Memento product mori: Of ethics in digital product design

“You cannot not communicate,” Paul Watzlawick once famously said. Similarly, whatever we as product designers and managers put in the world influences others for good or ill. As “software is eating” the world, digital product companies have become increasingly aware of their impact and ethical responsibility, and begun to design products and services not just to serve instrumental needs, but further the well-being of users. Layer by layer, question by question, this talk invites us as a community to reflect on the moral dimensions of our work.
